A not for profit 'Social Enterprise'
The Happiness Horsebox CIC is a not for profit social Enterprise or 'Community Interest Company '. It works in partnership with local charities and community organisations to support people who need nature most to access it with dignity and support. That includes helping horse lovers to ride and be with horses when they need it most.
In practical terms, as a CIC, the Happiness Horsebox therefore has more scope to achieve community benefit, across a range of different activities, rather than being linked to specific charitable purposes or certain geographic areas.
Dedicated to community benefit
The horsebox is subject to a permanent asset lock, which ensures that it will always be used to further community benefit purposes. This means that funders know that their funding will be dedicated to the community benefit purposes.
Innovative, agile and able to grow.
One of the main advantages of CIC status is our ability to be more innovative and agile. For instance we have adapted to meet the needs of different types of participants and manage reduced volunteer availability post Covid.
We employ people who really understand our participants, their carers and their combined needs. Where possible we work together too. Our professionally qualified HGV Drivers and Equestrian Coaches are employed on flexible contracts on a part time basis so that they can balance their own caring or health needs.
" Social entrepreneurs identify resources where people only see problems. They view 'the villagers' as the solution, not the passive beneficiary. They begin with the assumption of competence and unleash resources in the communities they’re serving..”
